The resorts are small, in comparison to those on the Florida and Alabama coasts, except those that are part of the larger casinos that sit on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico, and the despite their undeveloped, open beaches. But beneath the casino lights lies much history, some culture, and other entertainment that is worth exploring.īiloxi and Gulfport have a relatively short beach that attracts sunbathers and swimmers, but they are not known much as a coastal beach vacation spot. They have become the entertainment capital of Mississippi with a dozen casinos, hundreds of restaurants, and lots of shopping, including unique shops and outlet stores. The Mississippi sister cities of Biloxi, Ocean Springs, and Gulfport have evolved into a metropolitan area that offers the glitz of a mini-Las Vegas, quaint towns, commercial areas, and attractions.
